ITEC Day in Lima

ITEC Day was organised at the India House on 15 September 2021 after making necessary arrangements to maintain health protocol in accordance with the Peruvian Health Ministry guidelines. This time, invitations were extended only to those who are fully vaccinated.  Dignitaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, the National Programme of Scholarships and Education (PRONABEC) and the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI) as well as media representatives and friends of India joined the event. The film on ITEC was screened and memories of time spent in India by participants from Peru and Bolivia were shown.

  1. The size of ITEC Family is now more than 510 in Peru and nearly 50 in Bolivia. As in the past, the ITEC students took part in the celebrations with great enthusiasm and shared how the entire experience in India has changed their outlook towards life and work. They were highly grateful for the opportunity and thanked Government of India, institutes and faculty.  The dignitaries appreciated the contribution of India to the capacity building with right training.

  1. In my interaction, I gave an overview of India’s development cooperation and recent initiatives in the capacity-building stream.  I reminded them to maintain contact with their training centres and trainers in India as well as fellow trainees and global ITEC alumni through various social media platforms of ITEC network.

  1. As conveyed earlier, several ITEC participants reiterated their desire to return to India for training under ITEC and requested Government of India to give another opportunity to benefit from the ITEC programme.  Ministry may wish to consider allowing some of them to apply after a gap of two to three years. This will go a long way in further cementing their bond with India.
