About Us Visa Services

  1. New e-VISA:  This new e-Visa has 03sub-categories i.e., e-Tourist visa, e-Business Visa and e-Medical visa, which can be applied by the applicant directly online, pay visa fee online and receive ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) online.  There is no requirement to visit the Embassy.  The e-Visas are meant for those International Travellers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation , sight seeing , casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit. The validity of e-Visa will be 60 days from the date of arrival in India. Double entry is permitted on e-Tourist Visa and e-Business Visa. Triple entry will be permitted on e-Medical Visa.However, such e-Visas are allowed for a maximum of two visits in a calendar year.

It may please be noted that there is no system of Visa upon arrival in India. Persons wishing to avail of e-Visa facilities should apply for the same online at least 4 days in advance of date of travel, ensure that they have received the e-Visa by e-mail in confirmation (Electronic Travel Authorization - ETA) from Indian authorities and carry a printed copy of the same PRIOR to undertaking travel to India.  For complete information on new e-Visa and online application procedure, please visit https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

  1. REGULAR ONLINE VISA APPLICATIONwhich is applied online by the applicant and thereafter print a copy of the application and submit to the Embassy with the required documents.  This is meant for all other types for visas for various duration.  Prior appointment is not required. Following points may please be noted while completing such online visa application:
  • For proper uploading of online visa applications, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox internet browser options are recommended.

Complete the Onlineat https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html The visa application form is available online in English only. It is necessary to upload a digital photograph, as per prescribed specification. The system will automatically generate the application in .pdf format. Print it. If you want to print it later, please copy the Web File number and use the option “Reprint Registered Application”.

  • You may verify that the 12-digit PDF visa application Web File Number generated begins with letters ‘PERL’ and ensure that the visa application is submitted at the Embassy within a maximum period of seven days later, in order to enable its online retrieval at the Embassy.
  • After filling online the application form, please print and submit the  same at the Embassy along with other supporting documents and prescribed visa fees. Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 11:45 hrs except Holidays, There is no prior appointment requiredAdvisory on Biometrics.
  • Passport must have a minimum validity of six months from the date of application with at least two blank visa pages.
  • Applicants who have dual citizenship with Peru/Bolivia and another country may apply on their Peruvian / Bolivian passport if living in Peru / Bolivia.

Documents required for visa:
All visa applicants are required to submit the following documents:

1. Visa Application Form Online.  The form has to be completed, printed and duly signed (in the box below the photo and at the end of the Form).  In the fields Surname and Given Name, enter all your surnames and given names, exactly as shown in the passport.  Please re-check all your entries in the Form before submission online, specially the accuracy of passport number, its issue and expiry date, date of birth, gender and previous visits to India, if any.  The Embassy will not be responsible for error in filling up online application, which will reflect in the visa and cannot be corrected at a later stage.
2. The passport, in original, and one photocopy. If you hold dual nationality, attach copy of your other passport and fill in the additional form: foreigners/dual nationality.
3. Requisite fees for the visa.  (Please see the Visa Fees chart below).
4. Copy of DNI or your country’s Identification Card (ID).
5. Photocopy of Valid International Yellow Fever Certificate. The validity of this certificate begins ten days after the date of vaccination. It means that you can only enter India if you have taken it at least 10 days before your date of entry into India.
6. One 5 cm X 5 cm size colour photograph with white background. (Photo Requirement). Please paste your photograph on the printed Form.
7. Copy of confirmed flight booking.
8. Latest bank statement or proof of financial support of the applicant. Copy of debit/credit cards are not accepted.
9. Apart from the above requirements, the Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents such as letter from employer/educational certificates etc.

Important Points
• Visa is valid from the date of issue and not from the date of entry into India. Please bear this in mind when completing the section "Visa Period" on your visa application to be valid for your whole trip.
• Acceptance of visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of visa.

• Visa processing fee once deposited shall not be refunded. Fee should be deposited only after ascertaining the correct type and period of visa applicable for the purpose of travel.

• The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of the Embassy. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard.

• Applicants holding passports, other than Peru/Bolivia, must have a valid stay permit for at least one year in Peru/Bolivia for grant of all types of visas except Business and Employment. In case of Business visa, stay permit of at least two years in Peru/Bolivia is necessary. In all other cases, clearance is to be obtained from Indian Missions in their respective countries, which will take longer period for processing.

• All applicants should check the details in their visas, immediately on collection, and bring any discrepancies to the attention of the issuing authority without delay for rectification. The Embassy shall not bear any responsibility for consequences of failing to do so.

• All travellers to India, especially long-term visa holders, are advised to check the latest immigration and entry regulations before travel.

• Satellite telephone services like Thuraya and Irridium are not permitted in India. Visitors to India are advised not to carry satellite phones to India. Unauthorised use of satellite telephone services attracts penal provisions of the Indian Wireless Act and Indian Telegraph Act. Persons found using satellite phones without license will be prosecuted and such unauthorized satellite phones found in their possession will be seized.

• In case of Peruvian/Bolivian passport holders, with single citizenship, tourist/business visa is normally issued the next working day once they are approved.
  
• Registration: Foreigners entering India on Student visa, Employment visa, Research visa, Missionary visa valid for more than 180 days are required to get themselves registered with the concerned Foreigners Registration Office within 14 days of their arrival in India. Foreigners holding any other type of visa valid for more than 180 days do not require registration if the period of their stay in India on each visit is less than 180 days. However, they must register themselves within 180 days of arrival if the period of their continuous stay exceeds 180 days. For more details, please access the website:

Visas issued to foreigners are not valid for certain specified areas. Special permits should be obtained from India for visiting Restricted or Protected Areas. All Tibetan settlements are Restricted Areas.

Violation of visa rules, including overstay, indulging in activities not allowed by the purpose of the visa, non-registration, etc. are treated very seriously and may lead to fines, debarment from future entry and even detention and imprisonment.

Diplomats/Officials assigned to their countries Missions/Posts in India or Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holders working in UN or international organizations located in India and their spouses/children holding any type of passport are granted diplomatic/official visas.

Besides Documents required for VISA a Note Verbale issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru/Bolivia or from the respective Diplomatic/UN Mission.

  1. Transit Visa

    A Transit Visa is granted for the sole purpose of enabling the holder to travel through India to reach his/her ultimate destination. Change of purpose is not allowed. The visa will ordinarily be valid for a single/double journey and for entry within 15 days of date of issue. The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only for a maximum period of 3 days. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained.  Please note that validity of the visa begins from the date when visa is issued, and not from the date of travel on your application form.

  2. Entry visas

    Entry Visa is issued to a Person of India Origin, foreign spouse of Indian national and to spouse/children of foreigners holding any type of visa other than tourist/transit visa. An Entry Visa is given for a specific purpose as decided by the mission. Registration is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days.

Besides Documents required for VISA following documents are required:
Invitation letter from the organization/agency based in India and a letter from the concerned organization in native country for persons going for voluntary work. For students letter from their institutions and letter of financial guarantee either from parents or bank.

  1. Tourist Visa

    Persons wishing to visit India as tourists, or for meeting friends and relatives, will be given Tourist Visas valid for a maximum period of six months. Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible.

  2. Employment Visa

    Employment Visa is granted to a foreigner who wants to take up an employment in India. Visa is granted for the duration of the employment or for a maximum period of two years whichever is less. Minimum annual salary should be Indian Rupees 16,25,000 per year. Registration is required within 14 days of arrival if employment visa is for more than 180 days.

Foreign nationals who wish to come to India for honorary work (without salary) with NGOs registered in India are granted employment visa for one year. However, foreign nationals can draw a monthly remuneration not exceeding Rs. 10,000/- for honorary work.   While in India, for all visa queries and possibility of further extension of visa, Foreigners Regional Registration Office in the concerned state may be approached.

     Proof of employment or contract or engagement by the company/organization in India.  The document should clearly mention the salary proposed.
     Details of the assignment, terms and conditions, contract signed with Indian companies etc.
  •   Documentary proof of educational qualifications and professional expertise. 
  •   Copies of Registration Certificate of the Company.

  1. Project Visa

    Project visa is a sub-set of employment visa and is granted to foreigners employed for executing in Steel and Power Sector Projects.  Requirement of documents is similar to Employment Visa.

  2. Student Visa

    Student visas are given to bona fidestudents to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in India and to persons going for studying Yoga, Vedic Culture, Indian systems of dance/music etc. The visa is valid for the period of study as approved by the educational/recognized institutions in India or to a maximum period of five years. Registration is required within 14 days of arrival in India, if period of stay is more than 180 days. Students sponsored by AIESEC for project based work in companies/industries are eligible for business visa and those going for community/social services are granted entry visa.

Besides Documents required for VISA, admission letter from the educational institution which is duly recognized by the Government of India copy of its Registration Certificate.

  1. Journalist Visa

    Given to professional journalists and photographers. Visa is granted for a period up to three months. Those interested in making documentaries in India may contact the Embassy for details. 
    All professional Journalists and photographers are granted only Journalist visa irrespective of the purpose of visit.

  1. Business Visa

    Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, or wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India.

A Letter of Invitation from an Indian company on their official company letterhead, clearly stating the purpose and duration for which visa is requested. A similar letter from the local Peruvian/Bolivian Company. A copy of Certificate of Registration of both the companies is also required.

  1. Missionary Visa

    Visa to foreign missionaries, other than those holding ‘No objection to return to India’ endorsements, are granted only after clearance by concerned Ministry/Department in India.

  2. Mountaineering Visa

    Additional Documents required:
    Besides Documents required for VISA Mountaineering clearance from competent authorities in India is required.

  3. Conference Visa

    Foreign nationals are granted conference visas on production of an invitation to a conference/seminar/workshop being organized in India by Ministry/Department of the Government of India; public sector undertaking; central educational institution; public funded universities; organizations owned and controlled by the Government of India/State Government/Union Territory/United Nations or other specialized agencies/ organizations.
    Conference/seminar/workshop sponsored by an NGO in India needs clearance/approval of concerned ministry of the Central/State Government.

 • A copy of the letter from the Institution represented in Peru/Bolivia.

  1. Research Visa

    Research Visas are granted for Research work for a maximum of three years or for the duration of the research project. All Research Projects need to be cleared from India and it can take long time for issuance of such visas.

 Submission of subject of research along with the application
 Original admission letter of recognized university/organization
  Evidence of financial resources.

16 & 17.    Medical/Medical Escort Visa

A Medical visa is given for medical treatment in India. The visa is granted up to one year with triple entries and registration is required within 14 days of arrival.
 A Medical Escort visa is given to those who are accompanying the patient. Maximum of two escorts are permitted with a patient. Visa is granted up to one year with triple entries. Registration is required within 14 days of arrival in India.

Besides Documents required for Medical VISA relevant letters signed and stamped from the hospital concerned in India is required.

  1. Intern Visa

An Intern Visa is granted for pursuing internship in Indian companies, Educational Institutions and NGOs. 

The period of visa is restricted to the duration of the internship programme or one year, whichever is less.

Requirements:-

The intern visa will be granted immediately after completion of graduation/post graduation but the gap between the completion of graduation/post graduation and the commencement of the internship should not be more than one year.

A letter is required from the Indian company/educational institution/NGO concerned sponsoring the foreign national for the internship programme clearly indicating the period of internship.

In case the internship is in a Company, the foreign national being sponsored for internship should draw a minimum remuneration of Indian  Rs.7.80 lakhs per annum. There will be no minimum salary limit in the case of internship in Educational Institutions and NGOs.

Intern visa will not be issued for internship in certain vital sectors like Defence, Telecom, Space Technologies, Construction/strategic infrastructure projects, Mining, Civil Aviation, Petroleum& Natural Gas exploration, Private security agencies, Human Rights, Nuclear Energy, Environmental issues and Dams.

Grant of Intern Visa for pursuing internship in NGOs will be subject to prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. Prior clearance of MHA, Govt. of India is also required if the internship programme involves visits to Protected, Restricted and Cantonment areas, State of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern States.
Foreign nationals granted visa for doing internship will have to register themselves with the Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) concerned with 14 days of arrival in India if continuous stay is for more than 180 days.

The foreign national will have to exit the country before the expiry of the visa. An undertaking should be obtained from the company/organization concerned that they will ensure departure of the foreigner on completion of the internship.

Under no circumstances, the foreign national will be allowed to take up employment in India immediately after completion of the internship programme. Conversion of the Intern visa into Employment visa or any other types of visa will not be permitted. In case the foreign national receives any offer for employment in India, he/she will have to go back to the country of his/her origin/domicile and apply for Employment Visa at the Indian Mission/Post concerned.

Earnings from internship of the foreign nationals with Indian companies/Educational institutions/NGOs will be subject to the Indian Income Tax Regulations.

Grant of visa to interns sponsored by AIESEC will also be governed by the above mentioned guidelines.

  1. Film Visa

Film Visa is given for the shooting of a feature film or television/cinema and reality TV show/commercial serials.  For more details, please contact the Embassy.

Duration of Visa

Exceptions -Specific Countries List

  1. Gratis VisasIn view of the existing bilateral agreements/arrangements, all types of visas are  issued on gratis basis to the nationals of Afghanistan, Argentina(only Business, Tourist and Transit Visa) Bangladesh, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, South Africa and Uruguay(only Tourist visas). In respect of Seychelles nationals, all type of visas except for work/employment may be issued on gratis basis. However, ICWF charges of US$3 will be applicable.

2.Visa Free CountriesNationals of Nepal and Bhutan do not require visa to enter India. However, Nepali nationals require visa if they enter India from China, which may be granted gratis.

3.Visas Fee for Pakistani NationalsAs per visa agreement dated September 08, 2002, signed between India and Pakistan, a fee of Rs.100/- is to be charged  for an Indian visa of all types.

  1. Special Visa Fee CategoriesIn view of the existing bilateral agreements/arrangements, visa fee in respect of following countries will be as follows:

a) Singaporean NationalsThe charges for Tourist visa (Multiple Entry) and valid up to six months in respect of Singapore nationals will be US$28. However, fee for all other types of visas will be same as  mentioned n the visa fee table.

b) Japanese Nationals: A fee of US$4 for Transit Visa and US$11 for all other types of visas will be charged from the nationals of Japan.

c) Nigerian Nationals All Nigerian nationals will be charged uniform fee of US$253 for all types of visas valid for any duration.

  1. Transfer of Visa: When an Indian visa affixed on an old passport is transferred to a new one, a service fee of US$8.00 is to be charged. This fee will not be charged from the nationals of the countries mentioned in para 1, 2 and 3.

Submission of Applications:

In Peru

After applying for the service online, printed copy of the application form along with all required documents and fee receipt should be submitted at the Embassy in person by the applicant. The Visa/Consular fees have to be paid in cash (exact amount) only in US Dollars by the applicant. Payment in Soles, Credit Cards, Cheques, etc. are not acceptable.
Most visa applications are processed and visas issued while the applicant waits, provided all documents are in order.

From Bolivia

Visa applicants in Bolivia, after applying for the service online, should deposit and route their completed applications, along with necessary documents and fees, to Embassy through Honorary Consulate General of India in Santa Cruz, Bolivia whose contact details are given below:

 Alternatively, visa applicants in Bolivia, after applying for the service online, can also send their applications to the Embassy by following the instructions given below:

1. Scanned copies of Completed applications, along with necessary documents, may be sent to the Embassy first by email to: cons.lima@mea.gov.in. Applicants will be informed by the Embassy about correctness of documents. After this, fees can be deposited.

2. The original application, passport, supporting documents and fee receipts have to be sent by courier to the Embassy of India Lima, Peru (Av.Salaverry 3006 San Isidro, Lima – Peru). These documents have to be couriered to the Embassy at applicant’s cost.  When the service has been rendered and ready for dispatch, the Embassy will be inform the applicant to arrange a pre-paid courier for collection from Lima.

To pay the Consular fees The Embassy of India in Peru has opened a bank account in Bolivia in which visa applicants should deposit only visa fee in exact amount and NO courier charges or whatsoever should be included.  Thereafter, a scanned copy of the Deposit Receipt should be sent by email to us  at consular@indembassy.org.pe.  Henceforth, no cash will be accepted.
