Indian participation in EXPOMINA 2018 September 12-14, 2018 - Centro de Exposiciones Jockey, Lima Peru.

The Ministry of Mines, Government of India is leading a high-level delegation to participate in ExpoMina 2018 in Lima from September 12-14, 2018.

The Indian delegation will be led by Mr. Anil Mukim, Vice Minister of Mines, Government of India accompanied with high officials from the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Ministry of Steel and Ministry of Coal.   Apart from the government functionaries, the Indian delegation will consist of senior officials from big Public Sector Enterprises from India like Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL), Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd. (MECL), National Aluminum Company Ltd. (NALCO), National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC), Coal India Ltd. (CIL), etc. 

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) is the only company in India engaged in mining of copper ore and owns all the operating mining lease of copper ore in the country.  HCL is also the only integrated producer of refined copper in India.   National Aluminum Company Limited (NALCO) is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminum-Power complex in India.   National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC) is involved in the exploration of wide range of minerals including iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite, diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite and beach sands, etc. It is India´s single largest iron producer, presently producing approximately 35 million tonnes of iron ore from four mines.   Coal India Ltd. (CIL) is the single largest coal producer in the world operating through 82 mining areas.  Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd. (MECL) is involved in systematic exploration of a wide range of minerals. 

The Indian stands can be visited at E134, E135 & E136 at the exhibition.

The Embassy, in association with Lima Chamber of Commerce, would be organizing a business event titled: Interactive Session on India-Peru Cooperation in Mining Sector on  September 13 from 9 am to 12 pm at the headquarters of Lima Chamber of Commerce at Jesus Maria.   Representatives from Ministry of Mines of India, GSI, HCL, NMDC, MECL and Coal India would be making presentations at the event.   Also making presentations from the Peruvian side would be representatives from Ministry of Energy and Mines, INGEMMET and Rumbo Minero.   Those interested in attending the programme may register themselves with Lima Chamber of Commerce by September 12, 2018. 

On September 13, 2018, the Indian delegation will also participating in the 2nd Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting on Geology and Mineral Resources with the officials of Ministry of Energy & Mines within the framework of the MoU on Cooperation in the field of Geology and Mineral Resources signed between Peru and India in 2012.   The 1st meeting of the JWG was held in India in August 2015 where various areas of cooperation in the mining sector between the two countries were identified.    The 2nd meeting of the JWG, together with the participation from the business stakeholders from the India side, will take the cooperation further.   The Indian side at the JWG will be led by Mr. Anil Mukim, Vice Minister and the Peruvian side will be led by Mr. Francisco Ísmodes, Minister of Energy & Mines, Republic of Peru and Mr. Luis Incháustegui, Vice Minister of Mines. 

The trade relations between India and Peru are on the rise crossing the USD 3 billion mark in the financial year 2017-18.   The Peruvian exports of USD 2.37 billion to India mainly comprise of Gold and other minerals.   The visit of the high level delegation against this backdrop assumes much significance.  The big public sector entities from India which are part of the delegation have expressed keen interest for investment in Peru mining industry which is likely to strengthen the business ties between the two friendly countries.
