       Release of Postal Stamp in Commemoration of 75th anniversary of
                                                                     India’s Independence
                                                                 

On the occasion of 75 years of India’s Independence, a Special Commemorative Stamp was released by Serpost (Postal Services of Peru) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Government of the Republic of Peru at an event held in the Embassy of India premises on 26 August 2022. The event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Victor Alvarez, Vice Minister of Communications, Mr. Enrique Prado, Chairman of the Board of Serpost and other authorities from the Ministry of Transport & Communications and Serpost. Senior authorities from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Ambassador Fernando Quirros, Director General for Asia and Oceania and Ambassador Carlos Herrera, Director General for Cultural Affairs as well as Mr. Rohit Rao, President of Indian Chamber of Commerce in Peru, friends of India and Indian community joined the ceremony.

The celebration started with singing of national anthems of India and Peru and speeches by dignitaries that focused on India’s achievements in the past seven and half decades and expanding bilateral relations between India and Peru. His Excellency Mr. Mandarapu Subbarayudu, Ambassador of India conveyed his deep appreciation to the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Serpost for the gesture in joining the 75th anniversary celebrations and releasing a special stamp as an expression of friendship and growing partnership between India and Peru.  Mr. Enrique Prado said that the Serpost is issuing this Commemorative Postage Stamp with a print run of 5000 units in a souvenir sheet format and through this issue Serpost joins the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Republic of India. The event concluded with cultural performances and a reception. 

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav events are being held to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.  Hon’ble Prime Minister of India His Excellency Narendra Modi described Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as an elixir of energy of independence; elixir of inspirations of the warriors of freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges; and elixir of Aatmanirbharta (self reliance). It is a festival of awakening of the nation; festival of fulfilling the dream of good governance; and the festival of global peace and development.
