India-Peru Business Opportunities in Electronic products and ICT services.

Embassy in association with Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) organized a webinar on 29th September 2020 on Business Opportunities in Electronics products and ICT services between India and Peru. ESC under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India facilitated the participation of Indian speakers, while the Embassy of India with help of Lima Chamber of Commerce coordinated the participation of Peruvian speakers.

Ambassador of India Shri M. Subbarayudu in his opening remarks highlighted the importance of collaboration in this sector during the post-Covid-19 period. Emphasizing close ties based on complementary economies, he emphasized that there is a mutual desire to cooperate, expand and diversify the trade partnership. He also briefed the industry on the current level of engagement in the focus sector and potential tariff lines for Indian suppliers in the Peruvian market. Ambassador also spoke about India’s economic transformation through its flagship initiatives in the ICT sector such as Start-up India, Skill India, Digital India and how it has led to the emergence of innovation, skill development and digital ecosystems in India. Ambassador hoped that the webinar would help better understand Peru’s needs, capabilities of Indian providers, and long-term solutions available as well as identify tangible opportunities in the electronics and ICT sectors.

On behalf of ESC, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Managing Director of Deki Electronics Ltd and Mr. Mandeep Singh Puri, Director of Futuresoft India Private Limited made presentations and gave respective overviews of the Indian electronics hardware sector and the ICT sector. Highlighting significant growth in production of mobile devices, consumer and industrial electronics, computer hardware and electronic components and the remarkable growth in India’s electronics hardware exports in recent years, Mr. Sharma emphasized that India can be a competitive source of consumer electronics for Peruvian importers. Mr. Puri in his presentation highlighted India’s capability in the emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud and App modernization, Robotic automation, Data management, and emphasized that it can be a mutually beneficial partnership between the Indian and Peruvian industry in the ICT sector.

From the Peruvian side, Mr. Jose Antonio Casas, Vice President of IT Guild of Lima Chamber of Commerce gave a presentation on the ICT market in Peru, and Mr. Oscar Zevallos, Founder of the Deltron Group, which is one of the leading distributors of IT products and services in Peru, talked about the outlook for this sector during the Covid-19 crisis.

Mr Sandeep Narula, President of ESC, in his concluding remarks hoped that the webinar would boost collaboration between the Indian and Peruvian industry in the electronics hardware and the ICT sectors.

The webinar evinced overwhelming interest among Peruvian companies with more than 270 registered participants for the webinar. 65 Indian companies also participated in the webinar.
